Since I started collecting mugs in 2012, I have always liked Tiki Tony’s art. His fun style and use of Disney as inspiration resonates with me. Like many who enjoy Tiki, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is a favorite attraction and when I originally saw the concept drawings for the José and Rosita mugs I really liked them. Tony collaborated with the folks at Tikiland Trading Co. to produce this mug.
My wife pre-ordered them for me and in August 2020, amid COVID-19 lockdowns, stay at home orders, and the like, presented me with a gift box that had a printout of the pre-order confirmation. As it occasionally happens with custom-designed mugs and complicated by COVID, Jose and Rosita were delayed. So, I still had to wait.
Finally on October 27, José and Rosita arrived and I can say that they were worth the wait!
The set of two mugs was carefully packages to protect the contents.
Each mug was in its own box stylishly decorated with Tony’ doodles…the boxes are pieces of art on their own.
Each mug was packaged with a recipe card…I still need to try them…and a beautiful enamel pin featuring José and Rosita, respectively.
