My family and I had a great day at the International Tiki Market Place at Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach today. It is always a fun time to check out the latest Tiki wares from all the talented artists that travel to Huntington Beach to sell to the local Tiki community.
Today’s vendor list included Bamboo Ben, Baypark Buzzy, Crazy Al, Culture Cove, Deeliteful Designs, Don the Beachcomber, Doug Horne, Dirk, Fancy Fruits, GoTiki, Grider Co., HB Tiki, Humble Poi, Johnny Velour, Jungle Ginger, Nelson’s Tiki Hut, OB Tiki, Poly Hai & Adventurer’s Day, Reagan, Red Belle’s Boutique, Retro Ruthie, Skootiki, Smokin Tikis, Sweet Siren Designs, Taboo Island, Tee–Ki Togs, Tiki Al, Tiki Broker, Tiki Caliente, Tiki Diablo, Tiki Gonzo, Tiki Guy Studios, Tiki Pops, Tiki Roots Rocka, Tiki Shaker, Tiki Tony, Tom Hofer, Trader Pup, Vicki’s Tiki Moon Art, Vintage Island Art.
I had a chat with Crazy Al about his Hei Tiki mugs, one of which I hope to add to my collection when it is ready in a couple weeks, and also a future custom carved tiki for my backyard (…once that project happens). I also had a chat with Tiki Tony about the mugs that he and his wife make (There will be a separate post about the elephant mug that we bought coming soon).
When we stopped a Tiki Al’s booth we had a long chat about his Tiki Day (at Disneyland) pendants and picked up the set (more on those in a future post). We also discovered that we will be at the upcoming Tahitian Terrace Diamond Luau at Trader Sam’s and talked about possibly trading some mugs in the future.
The next ITMP is coming up in September…hopefully I can make it.
